Dear Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth,

Happy Covenant Day! I hope you are all doing well 🙂  I also hope that these first days of Lent have been going well and have been a time of a deeper relationship with The Blessed Mother and her Son, Jesus.

I thought it would be nice to share with you all a quote from Pope Francis.  As you may know, he has been spending some time in Mexico.  On Saturday, in his homily, he said the following words:

“Today, she (The Blessed Mother) sends us out anew; today she comes to tell us again, be my ambassador, the one I send to build many new shrines, accompany many lives, wipe away many tears.”

I think these words are so beautiful and so applicable to our lives as Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth.   I know when I first read these words I immediatly thought of Schoenstatt and Schoenstatt’s mission.  I related it to our Covenant of Love with the Blessed Mother and the great mission we have from our Shrine.  The mission to bring Schoenstatt, the mission to bring The Blessed Mother and Jesus to our friends, family, classmates and even those we may not get along with.  We are called in the Covenant to be Mary, or as Pope Francis says, her ambassador, for our world.

As Lent continues, I invite each of you to really strive to be an ambassador of the Blessed Mother.  Be her smile in a world that needs brightening and love, be her hands in a world of destruction.  Let us go forth into our times and be Mary for the world.

I pray for you all in a very special way in my room shrine during this Lenten Season.

In our MTA&Father,

Ellen Witter
